Harinderpal Singh Grewal
Harin heads the Next Generation National Broadband division at IDA. During his tenure, his team has successfully developed and awarded the Requests for Proposal to appoint the Network and Operating Companies of Singapore’s Next Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN). The Next Gen NBN is globally unique as its open-access model has been designed through a combination of structural and operational separation requirements set out by the IDA.
Currently, Harin’s team manages the rollout of the Next Gen NBN by the awarded operators with the objective of attaining nationwide coverage by 2012.
Previously, Harin led the Manpower development team at IDA. This division is responsible for ensuring that Singapore’s infocomm manpower meets the changing needs of the industry and that this profession continues to attract the best and the brightest students. Harin was responsible for spearheading programmes including Infocomm Clubs for schools, the National Infocomm Scholarship, the National Infocomm Competition series and the National Infocomm Competency Framework.
Before this, Harin also headed the Mobility Development Division to drive IDA's “Wired With Wireless” programme.
Harin obtained his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1988. His specialisations are in Wireless Telecommunications and Telecommunications Policy.
