Arvind Mathur is Chief Architect at Sify Technologies, a leader in consumer Internet and Enterprise Services in India with global delivery capabilities. He is responsible for architecting services, solutions and the product portfolio across the company's consumer and enterprise business lines, including strategy and evolution of the core and access network infrastructure to support next generation, managed IP services and applications for global customers. Arvind is responsible for Sify’s rapid network infrastructure roll-out and is a key driver for its “Smart Expansion” initiatives which delivers a highly scalable, application-aware core network supporting a range of managed applications that impart practical business value to a range of enterprise vertical segments and brings application-rich, multi-play internet-based solutions to the consumer segment.
Arvind’s Network Engineering and Services Organization at Sify is responsible for bringing to market key innovations that has helped transform the backbone internet to a ‘social infrastructure’ that readily scales to reach the masses through extensive and ubiquitous wireless networks; provides native support for IPv6; uses MPLS and Traffic Engineering techniques for reliable and resilient IP service delivery; and seamlessly integrates the IP-fabric to state-of-the-art Data Centres that host local content and powers multi-tenant hosted architectures that deliver Software-as-a-Service and Ubiquitous Computing to the consumer and enterprise alike, all within a QoS-enabled converged multi-play environment.
Arvind has over 19 years of international experience in the telecommunications and networking arena having started his career with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), India where he engineered advanced optical telecom systems; followed by stints at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Japan working on ultra-long wavelength optical semiconductors; with Advanced Fibre Communications, USA in deploying for the first-time fibre-based access networks in India; with Teleglobe Inc., USA developing telecom solutions for global carriers; with JDS Uniphase, Canada working on Advanced Network Architectures; and at Tata VSNL as Head of Global Product Management, Network Services.
Arvind holds dual Masters Degrees in Electrical Communication Engineering and Physics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi specializing in Optical Communication and Optoelectronics. He has been the recipient of Ind-FRG Fellowship for conducting research at the Deutsche Bundespost facilities in Germany, as well as the prestigious Monbusho Scholarship awarded by the Government of Japan for his stint at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication.
